Kirsten Strom is a young composer, artist and dabbler in poetry writing and street performing. Born in New Zealand, she spent her youth in three continents and has now been based in New Zealand for four years. In her work she draws from her roots, examining a New-Zealand-ness in her music as well as finding beauty in the science of sound. Recent works include Purity for string quartet, Two Modal Miniatures for Piano with a MOTM Audience Choice Award and Le chant du matin, tenor recorder, for Imogen Morris’s August 2015 concert. Kirsten Strom is a current student of composition at the University of Auckland.
