Blas González enjoys a varied career as composer, pianist and teacher. His music has been performed in Argentina, USA, Taiwan and New Zealand. He has been active as composer in the Nelson Composers Workshop and in collaboration with the Auckland composers collective The Committee.

He won a Merit award in the 2013 New Zealand Harp Society Composition Competition. His piece In the Threshold of Definition was subsequently performed in the 2014 World Harp Congress in Sydney by Helen Webby.
