16 July 2015 - Participants in the inaugural ASQ International Music Academy will play in a gala concert in St Andrew's on the Terrace in Wellington at 6:30pm on Sunday 26 July.

The concert will showcase chamber music and string ensemble music that has been prepared during a week of intensive rehearsals, lessons, masterclasses and informal concerts held at the Newtown Community & Cultural Centre.

Tuition at the Academy is provided by members of the Aroha String Quartet along with guest tutors Donald Armstrong (NZSO Associate Concertmaster), Andrew Joyce (NZSO Section Principal Cello), Victoria Jones (former NZSO Sub-Principal Double Bass) and Jian Liu (Senior Lecturer in Piano, NZ School of Music).

The 33 performers, a mixture of adult amateur and young student musicians, come from Invercargill to Auckland and as far away as China.

The varied programme includes works by Boyce, Britten, Grieg, Schubert and Mozart.

All welcome! Admission is by koha/donation.
