ASQ gears up for 2021 Academy

...Both muscularity and delicacy were made ours to relish...
(Peter Mechen, Middle C)

5 July 2021 - In just one week we'll welcome the participants arriving in St Andrew's on The Terrace in Wellington for our annual ASQ International Music Academy. Covid-19 level changes and a lack of international visitors certainly haven't meant reduced numbers this year, with 55 non-professional string players and pianists attending from around New Zealand. Ages range over seven decades, but everyone will come with a shared enthusiasm for playing ensemble music.

Along with our wonderful team of guest tutors and players we're looking forward to a week of string orchestra and chamber group rehearsals, along with social events and a sight-reading soiree. A public tutors' concert and an informal student concert on Wednesday 14 July, and our final public gala concert on Saturday 17 July, give participants and tutors the opportunity to show others what they've achieved during the week.

You can find more information about the Academy here and the public concerts here.

The ASQ Academy is a huge highlight in our calendar. We can't wait!
