18 March 2025 - Applications are open for the the 2025 ASQ International Music Academy. The Academy will take place at St Andrew’s on The Terrace in Wellington beginning on Monday 7 July at 9:30am. It culminates in a Gala Concert on the evening of Saturday 12 July.
Applications close on Friday 21 March.
The ASQ International Music Academy is ideally suited to non-professional string players of any age with a minimum standard of Grade VI. Pre-formed chamber ensembles are encouraged to apply.
Each day, participants will be busy with chamber music coaching and rehearsals taken by members of the Aroha String Quartet. Guest tutors will direct ensembles and classes in technique and musicianship. The timetable includes time to practise, to relax and socialise with other participants. In the evenings, there will be time for informal concerts, workshops, and a sight-reading soiree, as well as other social events.
Academy participants may wish to arrive early in Wellington to attend a performance of the NZSO National Youth Orchestra on the afternoon of Saturday 5 July at the Michael Fowler Centre.
