25 October 2016 - Simeon is taking a year off the second violin quartet role next year to spend time with his family. He and his wife Rachel are expecting their second child later this year, so the demands of having a job in a touring orchestra as well as a quartet concert schedule would make life with a newborn difficult!

Meanwhile, Haihong, Zhongxian and Robert will perform as the Aroha Ensemble to explore some of the masterpieces of the string trio repertoire, such as Beethoven’s String Trio Op. 9. No 1, a work that the composer considered his best composition to that that point.

Our Masterworks for String Trio programme is:
Beethoven – String Trio in G Op. 9 No 1
Pendereck – String Trio
Mozart – Divertimento in E-flat K563

Between April and June we’ll take the programme to centres such as Wellington, Paekakariki, Greytown, Rangiora, Christchurch, Auckland, Kerikeri, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Invercargill and Dunedin.
