4 August 2016 - Next week we welcome 42 student and adult amateur musicians from Australia, China and around New Zealand to St Andrew's on the Terrace in Wellington for our second ASQ International Music Academy.

Do join us for one of the concerts listed below to get a taste of the ASQ Academy 2016!

ASQ International Music Academy 2016 Concerts

St Andrew's on the Terrace is hosting the second ASQ International Music Academy from 9-14 August. There are two public concerts at the church associated with the Academy during the week.

Wednesday 10 August @ 12:15 - St Andrew's Lunchtime Concert
Tutors from the ASQ International Music Academy 2016 perform as part of the regular St Andrew's lunchtime series. The members of the Aroha String Quartet (Haihong Liu, Simeon Broom, Zhongxian Jin & Robert Ibell) will be joined by guest tutors Jian Liu, Songwen Li & Rachel Church (piano) and Andrew Joyce (cello) to play pieces by Schumann, Beethoven, Mozart, Ritchie and Mendelssohn.

Sunday 14 August @ 3:00 & 5:30 - ASQ International Music Academy Final Concert
Participants in the ASQ International Music Academy 2016 perform chamber works and string ensemble pieces they have studied during an intensive week of coaching and rehearsals.

3:00-4:45pm - chamber groups (including works by Vivaldi, Mozart, Haydn, Schubert, Beethoven, Boccherini and Dvorak)

5:30-7:00pm - string ensemble, directed by Donald Armstrong (Anthony Ritchie 'Whakatipua', Grieg 'Holberg Suite' & 'Yao Dances', a traditional Chinese piece)

Admission to both concerts is by koha.
