...I couldn’t really hope to hear a more engaging, more deeply touching, and more understanding reading of this incredible music. Very great honour to the Aroha Quartet and to Andrew Joyce for giving us such a memorable experience....

Aroha Quartet with Diedre Irons play 'Unbound' in Marama Hall, Dunedin

Our programme begins with Mozart's String Quartet No 17 in B-flat K458. Nicknamed 'The Hunt, this is a high-spirited, joyful work, both rustic and sophisticated. It contrasts well with 'Unbound', an expressive, heartfelt work for string quartet written in 2011 by New Zealand composer Brigid Ursula Bisley. For the finale, we are delighted to be joined by Diedre Irons, one of New Zealand's finest pianists, for the sublime Piano Quintet in F minor by Brahms. Combining lyrical beauty and rhythmic muscularity, this is one of the best-loved chamber music works of all time. Tickets ($30 Adults, $20 Concessions, $60 Families - 2 Adults + 2 Children, $10 Children under 18yrs) from Eventfinda (booking fees may apply).
