...unified by their common energy and discipline, and a singular understanding of Shostakovich’s music...

ASQ international Music Academy 2018 - 23-28 July

Join fellow musicians from around New Zealand and overseas for six days of stimulating and enjoyable music-making in the extensive, modern facilities of St Andrew's on the Terrace in central Wellington, New Zealand's cultural capital.

The fourth ASQ International Music Academy will begin on the morning of Monday 23 July. Each day, participants will be busy with chamber music coaching and rehearsals taken by members of the Aroha String Quartet. Guest tutors will direct ensembles and masterclasses. In the evenings there are opportunities for informal concerts and social events. The Academy will culminate in a participants' concert in the wonderful acoustic of St Andrew's on the Terrace on the evening of Saturday 28 July.

The ASQ International Music Academy is designed for adult non-professional and student string players and pianists of a minimum standard of Grade VI. Pre-formed chamber music groups are welcome to apply. Participants not in existing groups will be organised into chamber ensembles for coaching, with music sent out in advance where appropriate.

Applicants who are unable to attend the whole course from 23-28 July may apply for the short course from 26-28 July, beginning the morning of Thursday 26 July.

The timetable includes time to practise, relax and socialise with other participants and to enjoy the wonderful scenic and cultural attractions of the Wellington region. There will be informal concerts, a tutors' concert and social events in the evenings.

The full Academy 2018 brochure and application form will be available from late February 2018 from this webpage.
